Abstract
Aim: This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness and usefulness of prosthetic and orthotic devices as assistive technology. Limited access to assistive technology worldwide, especially in low and middle-income countries reported due to lack of education, health care, and social support, where nearly 80 % of the population lives. Only one in ten people currently have access to assistive products, and 2-4% of the population needs severe implications of assistive devices.
Method & Materials: An online search of major databases literature search for the last ten years was done using the keywords assistive technology, prosthesis, orthosis, assistive devices, etc.
Results & Discussion: Prosthesis and orthosis as assistive technology report high satisfaction levels. The availability and access of these devices devices' availability, access, use and cost are major concerns, particularly in low and middle-income countries where training, services and follow-up facilities are lacking.
Conclusion: Consumer involvement and equal participation in evaluating and selecting appropriate technology to make it widely available and affordable should be paramount. It can improve the quality of life and mitigate the physical barriers to the end users.

Key words: Assistive Technology, Assistive Devices, Prosthetic, Orthotic, Rehabilitation
