Digital Pharmacovigilance: How technology is redefining medication safety

Abstract
Digitalization is the keyword now. Everywhere in every domain, the digital word has become more of a prefix to any available programmes/techniques. Events or entities may be the same; but the way of doing it is different i.e, made digital. Data procurement is always a challenge and has to be at multiple reporting units and, it’s the crux point. Pharmacovigilance, an activity which is done in the larger interest of patients, safeguarding them from the possible side effects and thus contributing to the community at large. There should always be program evaluation at regular intervals of time, and suggestions thereafter should be incorporated and implemented to achieve excellence, excellence in Pharmacovigilance. Medication safety is of utmost importance as “Non maleficence” is one of principles of Ethics by ICMR. This article is an attempt to prioritize the importance of pharmacovigilance, and in the current era, the emphasis is on being digital.
